Blueberry Muffin Top

You might think Ashby's Ice Cream has a strange sense of humor in offering a flavor called blueberry muffin top, but they do. Maybe blueberry isn't a top flavor choice or maybe their customers don't get the joke. Either way, it is not among the company's top 25 sellers. Then again, chocolate does not make the top 25 cut either losing out to cotton candy and Superman. While the calorie count for blueberry muffin top (180 per serving) does not rank it at the bottom of their offerings, there are many other flavors which are better options for developing your muffin top.

We Come In Peace

Who knew substantial proof of alien life forms could be found in Pennsylvania? ;)

Thoughts and Prayers App

There was a time when the SNL team was creative enough to create this funny gem. Now that creativity comes from so many other areas. Enjoy.

Zombie Mechanics

These zombie mechanics were showing their coin slots while working on this hopeless Ranchero near St. Louis. It was a fun Halloween display we passed on our travels.

Flying Corn

Words cannot describe....

Sometimes an image of reality needs no words. This graces the Delta terminal in Atlanta.

See Something?

I was surprised to see the RNC now runs their own "tip line". The statement to "CALL RNC TIP LINE" followed by "1-800-CALL-FBI" makes me wonder if the party now believes they run the FBI.

I'm not sure if this is what they were hoping to have reported, but I think multiple snow plows on a greater Cleveland highway in mid-July is something to see and very suspicious. Considering much of the summer has been in the mid 80's to low 90's, I'm sure the plows were not needed.

Unless, of course, ODOT was hoping to plow up the b.s. at this convention. If so, they may need to call for assistance from other states.

Bikes and Shopping

As a youth, I would occasionally take my bike somewhere and shop. I had this item called a lock which secured the bike outside while I was inside. This shopper at a Walmart in Tulsa was gathering a few stares as he led his bike around the aisles. There were even more quizzical looks as he sat on the bike while waiting in line. Maybe Walmart should offer call ahead shopping with a bike-up window? ;)

Floppies

My company recently restarted a facility. It had been closed before I joined the company in 2004. I've made a few visits the the site and recently needed a pen. I headed off to the storeroom and was surprised to see a healthy supply of floppy disks on a shelf. At 3.5" these were a big advance over the 5.25" previous generation. Today, I have three USB pocket drives that all have at least 16GB of memory. The raw images for this post were each larger than the capacity of these floppy disks.

A lot of changes don't thrill me. The advancement of storage capabilities is an amazing one.

Bling Ball

Many airports have at least one shop selling wares that seem to be there solely for the traveler who realizes they forgot a gift for someone on their trip. With an unexpected eleven-hour layover in Denver, I found that shop in Denver airport.

Someone appeared to have actually purchased one of the pucks. The puck holder just visible on the far right was empty.

They also offer the luxury suite official hat for wearing while sipping champagne and toasting those millionaires on the field.

In case you are wondering, I overheard a clerk tell a group of vacationing women the bling footballs were $1200 each. The hysterical laughter from the women was priceless. ;)

Google Dictionary

Is it possible the Google dictionary editor needs a new career because the current career is careening out of control?

It is a special time when one Snarky Friday post fruitfully yields another. :)

Word of the Day: Career

The last time I checked, playing high school sports is not a profession, occupation, job, or employment. The local paper seems greatly confused with this difficult to understand word.

Maybe I had it all wrong. When I played sports I thought it was supposed to be fun.

Garfield Minus Garfield

I've never been a big Garfield fan, but Garfield Minus Garfield is a different and often funny take on the cartoon.

Concrete Cornhole

We were at a Hudson Park and noticed they have added permanent cornhole fixtures. These are made from concrete and allow visitors to play the game by just bringing bags to the park. They look like a great idea for parks and maybe even businesses to provide recreation for employees. They are made and sold by a company called B.Y.O Bags.

Maryland, My Maryland

Maryland's state song has some interesting lyrics....

I hear the distant thunder-hum,
Maryland!
The Old Line's bugle, fife, and drum,
Maryland!
She is not dead, nor deaf, nor dumb-
Huzza! she spurns the Northern scum!
She breathes! she burns! she'll come! she'll come!
Maryland! My Maryland!

Excuse me, am I the northern scum you spurn? Funny, you've always gleefully taken my tourism money.

Ad Choices

Just because I watch Shark Tank, doesn't mean I'm going to buy your nasty looking socks.

I really don't understand how internet advertising is financially successful or how anyone in adulthood would wear these.

Happy Ice Cream For Breakfast Day

I hope everyone remembered to celebrate this important day. ;-)

Preparation and shopping is always an important part every holiday. Thankfully the local Heinens had stocked extra to prepare for the rush. Decisions, decisions...

Chocolate won out over the other great options.

Breakfast included a fruit serving of yummy raspberries.

Holidays are always best when spent (and shared) with loved ones.

The Beatles

January 30 was the date of the last Beatles concert. It was held on the roof of Apple Records. We were a little young for buying Beatles albums, but I had gathered a few long after the band was no more. Years ago, we added the entire collection as CD's.

Besides great music, the video is an amazing snapshot of styles and London life in 1969 with mini-skirts, Jaguars, London taxis, and bobbies.
