Holiday Shopping on the Road

I was headed through Mexico and thinking of gifts for Ali at a boutique in the Houston Airport.

They were no longer available.  Too bad I passed on a new favorite purse for her when I was in Chicago.

I guess I just need to buy something she will wear.

Seriously, who buys these items at an airport of all places?  Or these?

We were at a hotel in Dallas recently and saw the following.

Ali saw me looking oddly at the picture and commented that she thought it was hung wrong and should be landscape orientation.

Workout While Washing

It has been a while since I stayed at a Candlewood Suite. The one in Fort Wayne always seemed a little tired and often showed signs (teeth marks) from prior dogs who were in the room. We were in Texas and headed to Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge when we stopped for the evening at a Candlewood. The chain offers a combination of laundry and workout room in the same area. It makes for a great reason to get a little exercise while waiting for the wash.

Rather than having a parking meter for every parking spot, San Antonio has these parking stations where you pay for your space. When you pay for your space, your receipt pops out which you then place on your dashboard to show you have paid. It leaves about 2% of the meters clogging the sidewalk, which also should mean a 98% reduction in meter maintenance and the cost of someone retrieving cash from the meters. Smart idea.
